Air Museum & Air Art City
Nevertheless, under the framework of an air art night, which takes place every second year at the end of the summer holidays and which celebrated its premiere in September 2010, the entire city is shadowed by the air in the air art city of Amberg.
A varied program with air art, air music, and air cuisine attracts thousands of visitors to the old city. This invites you to stroll pleasurably through the public plazas and to enjoy the spectacular air art. A cosy shopping trip through the mostly small but also fine Amberg shops, which delight their guests with airy activities, rounds out this evening.
Not just art and culture are underlined in Amberg, the air also plays a role of primary importance on the Vils.
Since 2009 the city of Amberg has been able to call itself the air art city – an attribute that points towards its artistic confrontation with a medium that elsewhere is regarded more as a matter of course or a vital basic need than as a theme or an object. Nevertheless, under the framework of an air art night, which takes place every second year at the end of the summer holidays and which celebrated its premiere in September 2010, the entire city is shadowed by the air in the air art city of Amberg.
In addition, the Air Museum of Amberg, which is housed in the historic “Klösterl”, a building constructed at the beginning of the fourteenth century, with the fitting traditional name „Castle of Angels,“ features unique rooms and exhibits centered around the theme of air on three stories. In addition to a highly-interesting permanent exhibition, lectures, readings, tours, and concerts await the visitor. On the ground level there are changing exhibitions on design, architecture, art, technology, and everyday art.
